A prayer for today:30a

Creator God, you are consistent in your attention to this world, giving the land and waters forms and colors
which no human skill can copy. I pray that today you will give me a mind and heart that rejoices in your creation.
Forbid that I should walk through your beautiful world with unseeing eyes.
Forbid that the lure of the mall should ever steal my heart away from the love of the open acres and the green trees.
Forbid that under the low ceiling of my workspace I should ever forget the immense sky above.
Forbid that when all your creatures are greeting the morning with songs and shouts of joy, I would be seen with a dull and sullen face.
Let the energy and vigor which in your wisdom you have infused into every living thing stir within me today.
Above all, give me grace to use the beauties of the earth and beauty of your Spirit within me as a means for my soul to rise from creature to Creator, from nature to nature's God.
O Lord, whose divine tenderness rises far above the loves and charities of the earth, grant me today a kind and gentle heart towards all living things. Let me be concerned for the welfare of little children, and of those who are sick, and of the poor; remembering that what I do for the least of these, I do for Jesus Christ, my Lord.  Amen
